LG S900 Express mini review
At the european market, a new bagtop pc has appeared, officially launched in asia in June 2007.
The name is LG S900 Express and its a huge machine, both internally and looks.
The model reviewed comes with a 19.1" screen at 1440x900 resolution, a little to low for such a big lcd display. the model reviewed has a 500GB 7200rpm internal 3.5" SATA harddrive, with enough storage to fit every need required for graphical installations or other desktop applications today. The processor, Intel Core2Duo at 2.0Ghz . Internal memory is 2GB (667Mhz) .
Additional features include;
- Nvidia 8600 GT with native 256MB onboard, and support for upto 1024MB shared memory.
- A webcam at 1.3Megapixel embedded, centered, at the top of the lcd display.
- A DVB-T digital TV Tuner , for european television reception.
- Standard Wireless card with a Intel, model 3945/A/B/G .
- Keyboard layout with room for keypad.
- "Dolby Digital surround" sound compatible card.
- Windows Vista Premium
To sum of brief details of what to expect.
- Games such a crysis, Halo 2 and others run nicely on this computer at a 1440 resolution.
- It boosts fine under Windows Vista, and the feel of a regular desktop pc is normal.
So the purpose of a buying of such a big machine, weight 5.7Kg . is not to carry it around as a portable
office solution. You can use this as an ordinary desktop pc, with the features of a laptop.
Power comsumption at 75Watt is still almost 50% of a desktop pc. the space needed on a table is still very limited. Its movable, and all in one cabinet.

The tests of this machine did not disappoint me, and i can only recommend this to users, wishing to replace the big monster becide the table, and setup a smaller movable laptop on the table.
A few negative sides of this machine,
- Maximum memory is 2GB
- Replacing the Harddrive is not that easy at all.
- Replacing the MiniPCI Express Wireless card is also very hard to get close to.
- Battery lifetime is really small, like 10minutes, which more looks like a UPS solution for a desktop, than a laptop solution. Nice if you have a Power surge, and wants to keep your laptop alive, but not for moving around with. Anyways the machine is far to big to carry in you bagpack when youre on the move.

As I could not locate any real reviews on this LG S900 on google, I hope this gives some people a little insight on this nice bagtop pc, which is a fair replacement for a desktop pc.

Is your laptop monitor to small, and want an alternative?
Want to use your television or want a colleage to try out your new game over the internet?
Why not try out this client/server software.
It will enable you to send the picture of the DX9/DX10 software to another location.
It can actually enable the option to send the game to your PS3, but remember it is required to run your ps3 in linux mode, and that it is only the picture being shown on your ps3. The pc is still the power behind the picture.

StreamMyGame
You would actually be able to run the client on your Amiga1200 in linux mode, or another smaller linux machine, as all it does is show the image from the server side of the pc.

Philips SRM7500/10 Trick to enable pairing on new windows install
It seems that if you choose to upgrade/reinstall your pc, the philips remote SRM7500, will need to be completely reset, to enable a new connection to your new windows installation.
For those with multiple remotes programmed on their SRM7500 remote, it would be really sad to loose all the settings on the remote, just because Philips have not given you the option to backup the settings on your remote.
Well, the solution exists, but you will need to load the "regedit" tool on your WinXP or Vista installation.
locate the following two registry keys on your pc.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Philips\MediaControl\3.0]
"InstallationID"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Philips\MediaControl\3.0]
"InstallationID"
Backup the entry "InstallationID" , ie. rightclick on the key "3.0" and choose export.
Edit the 2 exported registry files with notepad, and remove the other keys found here, so you only have the "InstallationID" left in the 2 files.
You can choose to merge both entries into one files by a copy/paste of the key registry, so it looks like this below.
Save the file, and you can insert the information into the registry, by doubleclicking the .reg file next time you install your pc, and you will not loose your settings on your remote.
Remember: After the registry entry has been imported on the new machine, you will still need to "Reconnect the remote" to your pc, but this does not mean you loose any of your settings.

Problems with Internet explorer 7? want to try an older version?
With the release of Internet Explorer 7, multiple issues and support for older releases of their product have disappeared with the new IE7. You can regain the functionality to see/open webpages and plugins made for IE5.x/IE6.x with this little addon product to your windows computer.
Follow this link to TredoSoft, where you can download a package (10.3MB), that installs the primary IE application for previous releases on your computer.

Remove Ads on webpages for free
Have you ever wondered if it was possible to get rid of those ads you see on websites you visit?
The solution is quite simple.

Visit this website
Here you will find a solution thats gives you the option to link to adds on an nework address 127.0.0.1 which is actually the local pc you are sitting on.
The purpose of the link to your local pc, is that the reference on the webpage, that links to adverts on other sites, will then point to your local pc, and you will see a "page not found" entry where the advert normally would appear.
This will in some cases also remove the popup windows, that appear through some adverts. and makes your surfing on the internet more safe.

Windows S3 wake up with remote not working
If you have multiple units connected to your USB ports on your pc, and more of them got wake-up functionality, you might need to reconfigure the wakeup S3 functionality, using this method.
unplug all USB units you have connected, and insert the usb unit you need to use, for wakeup functionality.
Reboot you pc.
Test the "off/on" functionality, and afterwards insert the remaining USB units you have unplugged.
This should have changed the order of the USB units, so the first USB unit now has the wakeup function.
Philips SRM 7500 remote installation requirements
The Windows Sideshow remote, Phillips SRM7500, seems to have some undocumented requirements, so the remote fails to function properly, during use.
You can solve the "connecting to pc" issue on WindowsXP 2005 (MCE2005) , by making sure, you have installed Windows Media Player 11.
After installation, MCE2005 will rescan all your music folders, and during this scan, your remote will not function properly, and you will probably see the message "Please Wait" more often during the scan.
